Matthew Perry talks 'funny and sad' new show

By Ree Hines, TODAY contributor

It's been seven years since "Friends" went off the air, but alum Matthew Perry hopes to have another big sitcom hit with his new primetime show "Go On."

In it, Perry plays Ryan King, a recently widowed sports radio host who spends a lot of time getting help (and laughs) in group therapy. The actor visited TODAY Tuesday morning to talk about the show's offbeat appeal.

Check out what he had to say in the clip above.

"Go On" debuts Tuesday at 9 p.m. on NBC.
