Speaking at Wired 2012: Mikko Hypponen (Wired UK)

Mikko Hypponen

If you've got an internet-based bug, a possible flaw in your online security system or fear the spread of malicious malware through your servers, you need to contact Mikko Hypp?nen.

Hypp?nen has worked in the field of cyber security since the early 1990s and has helped governments and law enforcement bodies from the USA, Europe and Asia in the fight against cybercrime. In 1991 he joined the Finish-based F-Secure, a company that specialises in anti-virus software and computer security. Hypp?nen and his team have been responsible for advising on and taking down some of the internet's biggest viruses, including the Sobig.F worm, the Windows-targeting computer worms Conficker and Blaster, and the Stuxnet virus.

Alongside his work in internet security, Hypp?nen also has several patents to his name for computer virus screening devices. He has given TED talks on internet viruses and online security, and written for Scientific American and The New York Times.

When he's not making the internet a safer place, Hypp?nen is also a keen collector and restorer of classic arcade games and pinball machines.
