US technology giant Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is holding early-stage talks for the potential acquisition of Israel-headquartered chipmaker PrimeSense Ltd for USD280m (EUR213m), local news website the Calcalist said today.
According to the report, certain Apple engineering executives paid a visit to the targeted business earlier this month. The Calcalist also mentioned that PrimeSense had raised USD85m from domestic and US venture capital funds.
PrimeSense is a fabless semiconductor company that provides three-dimensional (3D) sensing and machine vision technologies that power over 20m devices on a global basis, its website says.
The firm?s representatives were not immediately available for comment, Reuters said.
