In seven months of dating (and sleeping together), he?s never once taken her anywhere. They meet on weekends when he doesn?t have any other plans (with his kids, friends, family, co-workers, etc.) and ?hang out?.

And by ?hanging out? she means they literally ?hang out? at his home. And after they ?hang out? she drives about sixty miles back home.

She?s never met any of his friends, neighbors, co-workers, family, not even his kids. And when she asks when she can meet his kids, he tells her he is not ready.

Seriously?

He is very ready to sleep with her, and yet, he is not ready to make her a part of his life.

And she buys this BS for months!

She once said to me ?if you want to have a relationship with a man you have to be patient?.

Really?

I don?t think so.

My opinion is that if you want to have a relationship with a man, you go ahead and have a relationship with him, provided, of course, that he wants that too!

And if you have the ?want? part, what?s preventing you from having a relationship with the man you are sleeping with?

Clearly, it?s that HE doesn?t have that ?want? part. Something is missing.

The Sweet Life: An Indiana Baby Shower

This weekend was my sister Lindsey's baby shower. I came home just to be there and it was such a cute little day. Her friend Sarah put most of it together and true to Lindsey's request, it was co-ed and more like a cookout party than an actual shower.

Obviously, she's having a boy but they are having trouble picking out a name. Always fun to hear names suggested. Some I've heard include William, Jeremiah, Denver, Israel, Elliot, Max, Theodore and more. What are your favorite boys names? She's due July 1st so we have a little time!

There was a lot of little Indiana University (IU) gear gifted for Baby Hein. We grew up in Bloomington, home of the university so fans are major around here. This kid is born an IU fan that's for sure.

The parents-to-be. It was nice for them to be able to celebrate at their house in Indianapolis, since they normally travel to Bloomington for everything family-related. They have a cute little house and the baby's room is crazy adorable already.

This chalkboard is actually the wall above the crib -- an idea Lindsey said she found on ( Never Home) Maker. I love that she found the idea on a blog because of course I've been sharing my love of the blogosphere forever. I sent Never Home to her back when she first found out she was pregnant because I knew this runner couple had a new baby and seemed very similar in personality to Linds & Glenn.

We kept it super classy with a game of flippy cup, too. Lindsey and her other pregnant friend played with water and still had a blast. I feel like every time I go to any kind of party back home, flippy cup somehow ends up happening.

Giovanna cutey face still stole the show for me. She just keeps getting cuter. We honestly can just sit around and watch her play and sing and talk for hours. I've never been fascinated by a kid before but she takes the cake. There really is something special about nieces and nephews, which is why I'm so glad there's another one coming so soon!

Lindsey & I. We forgot to grab one with sister #3 but I thought this one was good. I have definitely been touching her stomach a lot, just waiting for this little guy to kick or hiccup or move. One more month and he's gonna be in her arms -- such a crazy weird thought. No matter how many times you see babies grow, it's always strange and miraculous to think about how we come into this world!

Customary family pic. I was sad Rick couldn't make it this weekend so he is missing but we did the best we could! It turned out to be such a great day -- despite the uber hot weather. I actually enjoy sweating it up and feeling super summery.

LONDON (AP) ? Britain's treasury has caved in to popular pressure over its plan to impose sales taxes on freshly-baked goods, handing a victory to supporters of the humble pasty.

U.K. finance chief George Osborne had planned to close a loophole which allowed takeout items ? including heated savory snacks such as pies, pasties and sausage rolls ? to escape a 20 percent sales tax.

But the new rules were attacked by political opponents and Britain's tabloid newspapers as an attack on some of the working class's favorite food. Of particular concern was the British pasty, meat and vegetables carried in a pastry crust beloved by students and workers. The Sun newspaper joined bakery chain Greggs in campaigning against the "Pasty Tax".

Today Was Supposed to Be My Wedding Day

May 26, 2012. It was supposed to be a momentous occasion---the day I would walk down the aisle in my mother's lace wedding gown, peonies in hand, best friend at my side, family and friends looking on with joy. It was supposed to be the day I started a new chapter, the day my dreams would be fulfilled. Little did I know, God had other plans.

We met in the winter of 2010---me and God, that is. He always had his eye on me, but I barely even knew who he was. Once I began spending time with him, our relationship blossomed into something special. He cared for me and loved me like no other. He filled a huge void in my heart.

That's how I came to know God. It's also how I came to know the man I thought I would marry.

The relationship started out like many others, following cultural expectations rather than God's design. Dating, sex, spending the night, meeting the parents, integrating the pets (him, a dog; me, two cats). After 10 months, on a snowy Sunday evening in front of the place we first met, he asked me to marry him. It was romantic indeed. Even strangers passing by yelled congratulations from their car windows.

I was excited to be engaged---to finally be moving toward marriage---but something never felt quite right. I sensed a resistance in my heart, like I wasn't totally sure about something. But he was a good guy---the right age, handsome, fun, easy-going, from a decent family. What more could a girl want?

So I moved forward. Even though I had just bought my own home, I gave it up and moved in with him on a spring day in early March. Everyone has to make sacrifices for love, I reasoned. That's where we're going to end up anyway. Why not start now? At first, it was exciting and felt like the right thing to do. But a different story soon emerged.

After just a few months of living together, God shook things up. I accepted an awesome job opportunity in another state, so we left behind the house we just finished renovating and drove across the country (pets in tow) to set up our life far from home, family, friends, and church.

Shortly after we settled, a friend from work recommended we try out a small new Presbyterian church in the area. I was a tad leery, as I had recently been baptized in a non-denominational church, but I agreed to check it out. I immediately loved it and felt like this could be my church home. On my second visit, I filled out a visitor card, which asked a few questions about how I wanted to get involved. Did I want to join a life group? Be part of a ministry team? Have coffee with the pastor? Coffee sounded good. I checked the box.

Later that week, the pastor emailed me, asking when I wanted to get together. What a great opportunity to get to know him and learn more about the church, I thought. Maybe he would even be willing to officiate our wedding in a few months. High hopes turned to frustration when I mentioned the possibility to my fianc?. "Coffee? With a pastor?" he asked. "Heck, no. That's just too weird."

After weeks of my coercing, praying, hoping, and begging, he finally obliged. But we continued to fight about it---all the way to the front door of the pastor's house. Regardless, I enjoyed myself and looked forward to hanging out with the pastor and his wife again soon. I could see them being our friends---a couple who would help guide our marriage and bring us closer to God.

Before we could marry, the church asked us to complete a series of counseling sessions, so we set up time to meet with our new pastor. He recommended we start reading the book When Sinners Say I Do by Dave Harvey. I ordered it online, along with Tim and Kathy Keller's book The Meaning of Marriage. And in my determination to be the very best Christian wife I could be, I also ordered a copy of Carolyn Mahaney's Feminine Appeal.? I thought these books would help us get ready for one of the biggest steps we would ever take.

Help they did, but in a way I didn't expect. As I started reading Harvey's book, the first chapter stopped me dead in my tracks. He explained that faith is the most important part of a marriage. Faith? Really? Even though I was now a Christian, I had never considered this point before. Harvey explains that faith is like the first button on a shirt---if you get that wrong, nothing else will line up right.

I began considering how this idea played out in the episode at the pastor's house, not to mention the weekly task of begging my?fianc? to go to church, trying to convince him to join a Bible study, and asking him to remember to pray before dinner. Is it supposed to be this difficult?

No, it's not, I learned from Harvey, Keller, and my pastor. I began to realize that just as my thinking had been flawed about sex as a prerequisite for love, I also had the wrong idea about the most important traits in a marriage. As I kept reading and talking to other Christians, no one said it was a good idea for me to marry someone with a different worldview. In other words, I had come to love Jesus and make my decisions based on him; my fianc? had not. That discrepancy became poison in our relationship---barely noticeable at first but eventually corrupting nearly every aspect of our lives. As I grew closer to God, I grew further from wanting to marry someone who did not have a relationship with him.

Keller's teaching on Ephesians 5 helped clarify what I was discovering. Ephesians 5:25-27 says:

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

Thankfully, the Holy Spirit spoke to me on a weekday in early January when my friend opened the Bible to this passage and showed me the truth. I came to understand that God intends for marriage to mimic Jesus' selfless love for his people. I was awestruck. My husband is supposed to lead me closer to God? I immediately broke down crying. I kept digging, trying to understand how I got so far off base. "He's a good man," I argued. "Yes, but is he a Christian? Does he know Jesus?" people asked me in response. "But if I leave him, won't I be going against what God says, by not loving the unbeliever?" Surprisingly, no. I was not yet married. I had not made a covenant with him before God. I was not bound to him. As much as it would hurt to say goodbye, I knew this was not the relationship God intended for me. He promises much more, and I wasn't going to find it in a marriage with an unbeliever.

As this devastating realization sunk in, we began the process of disentangling our lives. And within a few weeks, my ex-fianc? headed back to his home with his belongings, including the dog I had come to love and all of my hopes and dreams for a lifetime of happiness together. We both knew he had to find God on his own terms, in his own way.

Who could have guessed that simply checking a box on a church form would eventually end in heartbreak, financial loss, and unwanted singleness? Difficult and sad as it was, God was there every step of the way. He was there in the simple way it ended, despite our lives being intertwined in nearly every way. He was there in the support and love our family and friends provided. He was there to give me a sense of peace that transcended all understanding. Left to myself, previous breakups had knocked me down to my lowest points in life. But this time, with more riding on the relationship than ever before, I was truly okay. I suppose obedience to God made the difference. As much as it hurts, God is always there to pick up the pieces.

Marriage and family are still the two things I want most in life, but I know that they're in God's control---not mine. Before I knew God, I tried to control my relational life by making poor decisions and sacrifices that brought little reward. Now, I find fulfillment in God. He is my rock, the one who deserves my love and attention. While it is a daily struggle to trust him with the things I care about so deeply, he has proven that he's looking out for me. I leave my future in his hands.

MADRID (AP) ? The president of Bankia tried Saturday to calm fears about the future of the bank, saying Spain's second largest mortgage lender will emerge as a solid financial entity after it receives ?23.5 billion ($29.5 billion) in state aid in the country's biggest-ever bank bailout.

Bankia and its parent group BFA are prepared to sell a large portfolio of real estate and a "significant package" of companies as part of its efforts to turn itself around, President Jose Ignacio Goirigolzarri told reporters.

The Spanish government has promised to honor Bankia's request, made late Friday, for ?19 billion ($23.8 billion) in state aid, an amount far higher than what it envisioned when the government effectively nationalized the bank this month after it was stuck with some ?32 billion ($40 billion) in toxic assets derived mainly from the burst real estate bubble.

At the time of nationalization, the Bank of Spain agreed to inject to ?4.5 billion ($5.7 billion) in rescue funds.

The government fears the cost of rescuing the country's vulnerable banks could overwhelm its finances, which are already strained by a double-dip recession and an unemployment rate of nearly 25 percent, and force it to seek a rescue by the rest of Europe ? already preoccupied by crisis-hit Greece.

Another obstacle is the interest rate of Spain's benchmark 10-year bond, which was at 6.29 percent Friday. Anything above 7 percent is considered unsustainable in the long run.

Goirigolzarri outlined the bank's restructuring and recapitalization plans, which foresee beginning of the injection of state funds in late June. He said one of his priorities is to "strengthen corporate governance." He said his target is to provide Bankia with a core capital of 9.5 percent.

Detailed plans of the bank's restructuring will be made public in mid-June and need to be approved by shareholders, he said.

In June, Bankia, will have access to ?4.5 billion ($5.7 billion) requested on May 9 from the state bank rescue fund, FROB. This will be followed in July by the ?19 billion state recapitalization asked for on Friday, Goirigolzarri said.

Should Bankia, Spain's fourth largest bank, be able to raise capital on its own by appealing to private investors and existing shareholders, then the government's share could be reduced, he said.

Goirigolzarri said his aim is to consolidate Bankia as a leading financial institution capable of operating with solvency, liquidity and profitability. "We are conscious that we will be managing an organization that has public participation," he said.

Concern about the health of Europe's banks is a key part of the region's financial crisis. Spanish banks are seen as particularly shaky because they were heavily exposed to soured investments such as defaulted mortgage loans and devalued property.

The big fear is that if Greece leaves the euro, confidence in other financially weak countries like Spain and Italy could fall, causing the value of their bonds to drop. Ultimately, the worry is that it could undermine confidence in the system and create bank runs.

Bankia's request for recapitalization came as Standard & Poor's downgraded it and four other Spanish banks to junk status because of uncertainty over their restructuring. Such a move could make it more difficult for the banks to borrow the money they need to turn themselves around.

The bailout has angered a public suffering under the high jobless rate and relentless cuts. Alvaro Torres, 49, who owns a small fruit and vegetable market stall in Madrid, said that if there had been mismanagement in running the bank down, then those in charge should face a criminal investigation.

"If the bank needs to be helped out they should help it out, but first things first, those responsible should be held responsible," he said.

Goirigolzarri said his main immediate concern is to recapitalize Bankia, and that he will later decide on how to begin issuing credit.

"We want to expand business, so expanding credit, that is in our interest," he said.

The bank's shares have become subject to turbulent trading. On Friday, Spain's stock market regulator suspended them as Goirigolzarri and his board of directors met to assess how much aid to ask for.

Egypt to pick Islamist or military man as president

CAIRO (Reuters) - The Muslim Brotherhood said on Friday its candidate in Egypt's first free presidential vote would fight a run-off next month with ex-air force chief Ahmed Shafiq, the last prime minister of deposed leader Hosni Mubarak.

This week's first-round vote has polarised Egyptians between those determined to avoid handing the presidency back to a man from Mubarak's era and those fearing an Islamist monopoly of ruling institutions. The run-off will be held on June 16 and 17.

The election marks a crucial step in a messy and often bloody transition to democracy, overseen by a military council that has pledged to hand power to a new president by July 1.

The second round threatens further turbulence. Opponents of Shafiq have vowed to take to the streets if he is elected.

But to supporters, Shafiq's military background offers reassurance that he can restore security, a major demand of the population 15 months after Mubarak's ouster.

A victory for the Brotherhood's Mohamed Mursi could worsen tensions between resurgent Islamists and the powerful army, which sees itself as the guardian of the state.

Christians and secular liberals anxious about their own freedoms and the fate of Egypt's vital tourist industry will fret about a promised Brotherhood push for Islamic law.

"Now Egyptians will have to choose between the revolution and the counter-revolution. The next vote will be equivalent to holding a referendum on the revolution," Mohamed Beltagy, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood's party, told Reuters.

If Mursi becomes president, Islamists will control most ruling institutions - but not the military - in Egypt, the most populous Arab nation, consolidating electoral gains made by fellow-Islamists in other Arab countries in the past year.

Israel has nervously watched the Islamist rise, especially in Egypt, its old enemy until a 1979 peace treaty. Mursi vaguely advocates a "review" of the pact, but the Brotherhood says it will not tear it up. Shafiq has vowed to uphold it.

The bluntly-spoken military man came from behind in a race in which former Arab League chief Amr Moussa and ex-Brotherhood member Abdel Moneim Abol Fotouh were early favourites.

His late surge reflected the anxiety of many Egyptians about a breakdown of law and order and the often violent political disputes that have punctuated an army-led transition since a popular revolt ousted Mubarak on February 11, 2011.

The Brotherhood announced early on Friday that the run-off would be between Shafiq and Mursi after almost all votes were counted. A member of Shafiq's campaign also said Mursi and Shafiq were in the lead, but that counting was not complete.

"To choose between Shafiq or Mursi is like being asked do you want to commit suicide by being set on fire or jump in a shark tank," Adel Abdel Ghafar wrote on Twitter, a networking tool used to devastating effect against Mubarak in the uprising.

Tareq Farouq, 34, a Cairo driver, said: "I'm in shock. How could this happen? The people don't want Mursi or Shafiq. We're sick of both. They are driving people back to Tahrir Square."

Many Christians, who form about a tenth of Egypt's 82 million people, complained of discrimination in Mubarak's day, but are likely to vote for Shafiq in preference to an Islamist.

The Brotherhood may be riding high, but to win the run-off it will need to woo the votes of other candidates such as its old adherent Abol Fotouh, who took 20 percent of the vote on an inclusive platform, according to the Brotherhood's count.

Two days of first-round voting went off calmly with polls closing on Thursday. Monitors reported no major infringements, although some candidates grumbled about their rivals' conduct.

The Brotherhood official, who asked not to be named, said that with votes counted from about 12,800 of the roughly 13,100 polling stations, Mursi had 25 percent, Shafiq 23 percent, Abol Fotouh 20 percent and leftist Hamdeen Sabahy 19 percent.

Election committee officials said late on Thursday that about half of Egypt's 50 million eligible voters had cast ballots. The Brotherhood official put the turnout at 40 percent.

Santa Monica police are conducting an internal investigation into the shooting death of a mountain lion that appeared in an office building courtyard in the city?s downtown, police Sgt. Richard Lewis told msnbc.com.

The cat, a 3-year-old male weighing about 90 pounds, had apparently wandered into the city overnight from the Santa Monica Mountains and jumped over an eight-foot wall into the building courtyard, Lewis said. At 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning, a maintenance worker called police, who then called in the fire department, California Fish and Game Department and a wildlife biologist from the National Parks Service.

This was an unfamiliar situation, Lewis said -- the first time in the memories of veteran Santa Monica police officers that a mountain lion had ventured into the city.

The officials decided a member of Fish and Game would shoot the mountain lion with a heavy dosage tranquilizer dart, hoping he would slump into a corner and officials could then transport him back to the mountains.

?That would cause one of two reactions,? Lewis said. ?The animal could become aggressive, or it could become docile and lay down. It chose to do what mountain lions do and it tried to escape.?

The officers acted quickly and shot pepper balls in hopes that the animal would slink back into the corner of the courtyard. They sprayed mist at the glass doors framing the courtyard so the cat wouldn?t try to go through them.

But it?did anyway, lunging at the two-inch glass doors, shattering them.

?At that point, the animal circled around, realized where it had jumped in from and started to jump over,? Lewis said. ?That?s when the order was given to use lethal force.?

Allowing the cat to jump back over the wall, near the popular Promenade by the beach, was not an option, Lewis said. The cat, injured, angry and able to run 40 to 50 miles per hour, would have encountered humans within seconds. Santa Monica, which houses about 90,000 residents, has a daytime population between 200,000 and 400,000.

Some questioned why a second dart wasn?t used, Lewis said, but that wasn?t possible either. A second dart would have killed the cat, he said, and anyway, it would have taken?15 minutes to take effect. The cat would have jumped over the wall by then.

The incident, from call to the cat?s death, lasted three hours. The internal investigation will focus on the shooting, the performance of the officers and whether they could have used different training, Lewis said.

The Fish and Game Department took its carcass and will perform a necropsy, conducting a chemical and DNA analysis to determine what it had eaten.

They will then cremate the mountain lion and a game warden or biologist will spread the ashes in a peaceful spot in the mountains.

"I call it the circle of life," Andrew Hughan?of the Fish and Game Department told msnbc.com.

The mountain lion population is under severe stress due to habitat loss and poaching, scientists say.

For a decade, the National Park Service has been tracking mountain lions in Southern California, including the 275 square miles of the Santa Monica range, which?is hemmed in by highways, urban areas, the ocean and agricultural land.

That island of habitat is?large enough to support 10 to 15 mountain lions, according to Jeff Sikich, a biologist with the project. Young adult males are forced to set out to establish their own territory or reckon with a dominant male in the area, he said.

"Most young adult males we have followed in the Santa Monica mountains have ended up getting killed on a freeway or by an adult male in that territory," Sikich said.

The park service is conducting genetic tests to determine whether the mountain lion killed on Tuesday is a part of the tiny Santa Monica population, which Sikich says is likely.

Dunbar said the Sacramento-based foundation had dispatched staff to Santa Monica to investigate the animal?s death.

"Though we tried to get information from the local police they were not forthcoming," Dunbar said. "We are presently requesting a copy of?(the California Fish and Game Department's)?incident report."
